In 2017, the festival is part of a week-long series of events under the umbrella of SOMALI WEEK, which will be hosted in locations throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul from Friday, June 30, 2017 to Saturday, July 8, 2017. During the 34 years the link has lasted, Borama has changed a great deal and became the center of education for all Somalis. Garowe International Book Fair

The Garowe International Book Fair is an annual event organized by Scansom publishers and SIDRA institute. The event brings together more than 2,000 people including Somali authors, poets, academics, playwrights, motivational speakers, literary scholars, policy makers and government from across the Somali region and around the world. The GIBF2017 will be held in East Africa University, Garowe, Somalia from 17th to 20th July 2017.
